Feminax Period Pain Capsules are a combination of codeine and paracetamol, which both relieve pain.
What are Feminax Period Pain Capsules for?
The capsules are for the relief of period pain. They also relieve the pain of headaches, back pain and muscular aches and pains which may accompany your period.
When should I not take Feminax Period Pain Capsules?
Do not take this product with any other paracetamol containing medicines, i.e. over-the-counter cold remedies. Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Before taking Feminax Period Pain Capsules:
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Feminax Period Pain Capsules if you:
- Are taking prescription medicines.
- Are taking medicines containing codeine, metoclopramide, domperidone, colestyramine.
- Are taking medicines which affect the liver.
- Have a liver or kidney condition.
- Are pregnant or think you may be pregnant
If you need to use this medicine for more than three days at a time, see your doctor, pharmacist or health care professional. Taking codeine regularly for a long time can lead to addiction, which might cause you to feel restless and irritable when you stop the capsules. Taking a painkiller for headaches too often or for too long can make them worse.
How should I take Feminax Period Pain Capsules?
Adults and children over 12 years: Take 1-2 capsules, repeated if necessary every 4-6 hours with a maximum of 8 capsules a day. Not recommended for children under 12 years.
Warning: Do not exceed the stated dose.
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if your symptoms persist or if you need any clarification on the use of this product.
What if I take too many Feminax Period Pain Capsules?
If you take too many of these capsules, speak to a doctor or go to the nearest hospital casualty department straight away. Take the carton and any remaining capsules with you to show the doctor.
Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.
Do Feminax Period Pain Capsules cause any side effects?
Side effects are rare at recommended doses but occasionally the capsules can cause constipation. Any other unusual effects should be reported to your doctor or pharmacist. If you notice that you bruise or bleed more easily than usual or if you are more prone to infection, such as sore throats or mouth ulcers, you should speak to your doctor.
How should I store Feminax Period Pain Capsules?
Do not store above 25°C, i.e. this medicine may be stored at room temperature.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use the capsules after the expiry date (EXP) on the carton and blister.
What do Feminax Period Pain Capsules contain?
Feminax Period Pain Capsules contain the active ingredients: paracetamol 500 mg and codeine phosphate 8 mg.
They also contain: pregelatinised maize starch, colloidal silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate (E572).
The capsule shell contains: gelatin, shellac (E904) and red iron oxide (E172).
Available in packs of 20 hard capsules.
